Asbestos management, including professional surveys
Modern Hygiene (1992) Ltd undertake professional asbestos management surveys on all types of property - domestic, commercial, and industrial. The purpose of an asbestos management survey is to locate the presence and extent of any potential asbestos containing materials (ACMs) in the building which could be damaged or disturbed during occupancy, and to assess their condition. A management survey includes an assessment of the condition of the various ACMs and their ability to release fibres into the air if they are disturbed.
A full remediation plan should be created before any work begins. At the start of every project, we evaluate the full extent of asbestos waste presence and provide an individual plan for encapsulation or removal, transportation and disposal. Our aim is to achieve minimal site work disruption while ensuring that all work is carried out safely. What does an asbestos management survey include?

Re-inspections
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 requires that the condition of asbestos-based products must be inspected, and records updated, on a regular basis. The time between asbestos inspections must not exceed 12 months. Asbestos re-inspection surveys are designed to monitor and record the condition of any previously identified asbestos products within a building.
Over time, asbestos-based products can deteriorate or be accidentally damaged and cause the risks associated with the material to change considerably. The updated asbestos survey report itself will include a new recommendation on how to safely manage these materials.
